One of the challenges leaders face and really we all face is when to focus on the forest and when to focus on the trees. Details are important and if you never focus on the trees, (the details) then your forest won’t be healthy. However when you only focus on the trees and never see the big picture what happens is you become so attached to the tree you end up actually losing the forest. Maybe the analogy is getting lost. Let me see if I can explain it using some practical examples:
There’s been times in my life when I got so focused on losing weight or gaining muscle and seeing little to no results after a whole week of working out. I know maybe this is a silly example — but in that example, one week with no results can be normal and if I only focused on the one week then I could become depressed and give up when the results are coming by seeing a larger time span.
